Qatar’s mission in Geneva holds exhibition on International Day to Protect Education from Attack
On the occasion of the UN International Day to Protect Education from Attack, the Permanent Mission of Qatar to the UN in Geneva organized a photography exhibition at the UN Palace in Geneva in collaboration with the Education Above All Foundation (EAA).
In a speech, H E Dr. Hind bint Abdul Rahman Al Muftah, Permanent Representative of Qatar to the UN in Geneva, welcomed the audience and praised the EAA’s involvement with the images on the right to education that showed the effects of the attacks on education.
She reaffirmed that every child has the fundamental human right to go to school, which is also a requirement for their wellbeing.
The Permanent Representative emphasized that commemorating this day is really a celebration of providing a secure environment in which children may study and develop their talents, adding that today’s investment in children’s right to an education is an investment in the society of tomorrow. She continued, “Without a strong education, we won’t be able to guarantee a safe and sustainable future for all of us.”
She urged using this day to highlight the necessity of united action to fulfill the right to education and to halt all attacks on schools, universities, and other institutions of learning so that they always remain a safe refuge to support peace, development, and stability.
