Qatar National Library inaugurates “Read to Lead” Program

The “Read to Lead” initiative, which focuses on leadership and how self-help books may assist people and employees improve their efficiency and performance to increase productivity, had its first session at the Qatar National Library.

The event’s honoree was former prime minister HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Thani. He discussed his prior experiences and imparted his knowledge as one of Qatar’s most well-known leaders. The seminar also covered the most crucial leadership ideas included in one of the most authoritative works on the subject, Robin Sharma’s The Leader Who Didn’t Have a Position.

The event was held in the presence of HE Minister of State and President of Qatar National Library Dr. Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kuwari, who delivered the keynote speech, as well as leaders from 15 different governmental institutions. Their presence was a sign of the government’s commitment to successful leadership and the refining of skills that will make an impact on society and actively contribute to achieving Qatars National Vision 2030.

At the end of the session, participants voiced their opinions and impressions about the book’s themes and ideas, and the most important lessons they learned after hearing about the experiences of HE the former Prime Minister. Copies of the book were also distributed to the participants.

His Excellency said, “I extend my heartfelt thanks to Qatar National Library’s management and the organizers of the “Read to Lead” program, led by Dr. Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kuwari, President of Qatar National Library. I had the pleasure to interact and talk with promising young leaders in whom I saw the spirit of leadership and I was touched by their determination to hone their leadership capabilities to be used in their careers. I wish them success and progress in their work, for they are the leaders of the future and the builders of our nation.”

The “Read to Lead” program is part of the “Qatar Reads”, a Qatar National Library initiative, but which was originally launched by the former Qatar Foundation Community Development Department in 2019 to encourage residents of Qatar to read every day.

On his part, Dr. Al Kuwari said, “In our country, we are keen to educate our youth about the factors of successful leadership, and the starting point is knowledge, and knowledge begins with reading, with which leadership is achieved.”

He added: “The Qatar Reads initiative, through its “Read to Lead” program, has made a strong start by selecting a distinguished guest and leader from among Qatar’s great leaders, HE the former Prime Minister, who discussed leadership concepts with young leaders and shared his rich and practical experience with clear examples and actual stories, which had a great impact on the attendees.

The “Qatar Reads” initiative focuses on making reading an essential part of the communitys daily activities in Qatar, and an effective tool for spreading knowledge, instilling values, encouraging analytical thinking and promoting social development. The project offers a variety of ways in which families, youth and various segments of society can interact with the world of reading.

The “Read to Lead” program, which consists of instructional and discussion sessions around a certain book, is one of them. With the help of particular books, this program aims to empower lifelong learners with self-development and ambition and to encourage people to use reading as a tool for both professional and personal growth. Its target audiences include university students, young professionals, and employees.
