Following the passing of legendary Nollywood comedy actor John Okafor this past week, Nigerians are in grief for one of their favorite movie actors. Known for playing the role of “Mr. Ibu,” he became well-known for making fans laugh just by being around. He was one of the few Nollywood performers to break into the film business, which is based in the northern city of Kano, known as Kannywood, which is often despised by those from the south. For this reason, he will also be remembered with affection in northern Nigeria.
