With high-tech acquisitions, Qatar prepares for World Cup security: Report
Qatar is fully equipped to safeguard the FIFA World Cup in 2022, according to a report by Breaking Defense, which complimented the nation’s security measures. The tournament is only a few months away.
The 2022 FIFA World Cup is just months away, and according to Breaking Defense, a digital magazine on defense strategy, politics, and technology, “Qatar has taken delivery of its first batch of Eurofighter Typhoons, the Gulf country’s latest significant acquisition that will help beef up security for the competition.”
The Joint Typhoon Squadron, which the Typhoons will be a member of, will provide air protection for the World Cup from November 20 to December 18.
The report also stated that the Italian company Leonardo’s low-level air surveillance and defense system, which consists of a network of Kronos radars and related command and control centers, will protect Qatari airspace. In order to ensure the safe arrival of fans and athletes to the World Cup, the business is in charge of all the air traffic management electronics and meteorological equipment at the Hamad International Airport.
The Qatari Navy’s contracts and most recent investments in securing its territorial waters were also mentioned in the report.
