What It’s Like At: Al Waab Family Park

Located in a quiet residential area in the Al Rayyan Municipality, Al Waab Family Park is an oasis of calm and happiness for the local neighborhood, but of course, all families are welcome to visit this lovely and well-maintained park.

Al Waab Family Park is a small recreational garden that offers a whole lot of fun and relaxation, and here are the things you will see and enjoy for free when you visit it.

    • Allow gatherings or sitting in public parks with a maximum of (30) people or family members residing in the same house.
    • It is allowed to practice individual sports such as walking, running and cycling, and allowing the opening of playgrounds and sports equipment.
    • Allow the opening of toilets as specified by the Ministry of Municipality.

The park has two entrance gates, but currently, only the main entrance gate is being used. Near the gate and surrounding the park are car parking spaces.

Upon entrance, you will be greeted by a water fountain which is the centerpiece of the park. The sight and sound of the water add to the tranquility of the place.

A large and well-shaded playground is located directly behind the fountain. This colourful area with slides, climbing paths, swings, see-saws, and other activities will undoubtedly appeal to children.

Parking:  Street parking along the roads surrounding the park and across the street by neighbouring compounds

Shade:  The playground is mostly shaded. There is no shaded seating area.

Toilets:  Yes, clean and well-maintained

Wheelchair and disability accessibility:  The entrance and pathway around the play area are accessible to wheelchairs. Toilets are very wheelchair friendly.

Doha Family tips

Not allowed:  Bikes, scooters, roller-skates and skateboards, picnics, ball games are not allowed in the park itself, only on the soccer pitch.

Don’t forget!

  • It’s a small park in a residential area—there are no shops or cafés nearby.
  • It has a water dispenser.
  • There are no seating areas in the shade.

Driving directions

  • From the city centre, take Salwa Road.
  • After coming down the flyover, take the exit off Salwa Road, signposted Bu Hamour and Al Waab.
  • At the traffic lights, go straight onto Salwa Road. You will be above the expressway with the Mercedez Benz dealership on your right hand side.
  • After the VW showroom, take a right onto al Halaya Rd.
  • Go straight at the small roundabout, and then take the first slip road on your right.
  • Take the first right off the slip road, then the first left at the T-junction.
  • Follow the road round to right.
  • You will drive past Beverly Hills Gardens 7 on your left.
  • You will see the gates to the park on your right.

Because of its small size, and as the name implies, it is primarily a park for the local community. Nonetheless, families who live outside of Al Waab may find this park useful if they happen to be nearby.

This park is a great asset and meeting place for Al Waab residents—a great place for excited kids to burn off some energy for an hour or two before winding down for bed!
