One of the most watched sporting events in the world, the UEFA Champions League, has a new official sponsor in Star Alliance member Turkish Airlines.
This collaboration, which would rank among the largest sponsorship agreements in Turkish sports history, is especially noteworthy because the 2023 UEFA Champions League final will be held at Istanbul’s Atatürk Olympic Stadium on June 10.
Through more than 70 broadcasters, the UEFA Champions League organization reaches 678 million viewers in 200 countries. Football fans are also taking part in the excitement on social media, achieving more than 28 million engagements.
Before, during, and after the games, Turkish Airlines will have a variety of exposure opportunities, logo and name rights, and LED screens around the pitch.
As part of the agreement, the national airline of Turkey will serve as the official sponsor of the UEFA Super Cup, UEFA Futsal Champions League finals, and UEFA Youth League finals.
Turkish Airlines Chairman of the Board and Executive Committee Prof. Dr. Ahmet Bolat, senior Turkish Airlines executives, UEFA President Aleksander eferin, and UEFA Marketing Director Guy-Laurent Epstein attended the announcement of Turkish Airlines’ UEFA Champions League sponsorship deal at the Haliç Congress Center in Istanbul. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Bolat said the following about the sponsorship: “As the national airline, we are proud to support the UEFA Champions League, one of the biggest sporting events in the world.
We are growing the Turkish Airlines brand to new heights as our nation spreads its wings in preparation for the 100th anniversary of our Republic. On June 10, 2023, we will transport the entire world to Istanbul thanks to this sponsorship, spreading the Turkish Airlines name throughout the globe. We intend to keep competing in the top competitions because we firmly believe in the ability of sports to bridge cultural gaps.
The UEFA Champions League is the best club competition in the world, and we are thrilled to have Turkish Airlines on board as a partner, said UEFA Marketing Director Guy-Laurent Epstein. We are happy that their first season as a partner will come to a close with the final of this famous competition taking place on home soil in Istanbul because we both share a worldwide reach, connecting fans across countries. We both have similar interests, and we firmly feel that the possibilities for our collaboration are endless.
The first airline in the world to collaborate with UEFA as its official airline sponsor for the UEFA EURO 2016 was Turkish Airlines.
Additionally, the national carrier aircraft secured sponsorship deals with illustrious groups including FC Barcelona, Manchester United FC, Borussia Dortmund, Olympique de Marseille, and River Plate. One of the most viewed ads of all time is Turkish Airlines’ “The Selfie Shootout” spot with Kobe Bryant and Lionel Messi.
In addition to supporting football, the national carrier serves as the title sponsor of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague, the premier basketball competition in Europe, since 2010.
In addition, Turkish Airlines offers first-rate assistance for equestrian, rugby, golf, tennis, and volleyball.
