Tunisia holds camp in Dammam preparing for World Cup
Sunday saw the departure of the Tunisian national football team for a training camp in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, which will stay until November 13 and serve as the final phase of FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 preparations.
A few players will start the camp in Saudi Arabia, and the remaining ones will join the team in Doha after their obligations to their clubs are completed.
A preliminary list of 16 players who will take part in the camp in Dammam before the Tunisian national team’s trip to Doha for the World Cup on November 14 was released on Saturday by Jalal Al Qadri, the team’s head coach.
The Tunisian team’s list included: Mouez Hassen, Aymen Balbouli, Aymen Dahmen and Bechir ben Said (goalkeeper), Yassine Meriah, Bilel Ifa, Nader Ghandri, and Ali Maaloul (defense), Ghaylen Chaaleli, Ferjani Sassi, Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane and Saad Bakir (midfielders), Youssef Msakni, Naim Sliti, Seifeddine Jaziri and Taha Yassine Khenissi (attack).
After the camp, the Tunisian team will head directly to Doha to face its Iranian counterpart in a friendly match.
The final roster for the Tunisian national team’s participation in the World Cup finals in Qatar will be made public by the team’s coach on November 14—the penultimate deadline established by FIFA.
The Tunisian team, which will compete in its matches at the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 alongside France, Australia, and Denmark, will open its sixth and consecutive World Cup campaign on November 22 against Denmark.
As part of the initial round of preparations, the Tunisian team competed in three exhibition games against the teams of Chile, Japan, and Brazil.
