The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) supplied several trucks of humanitarian aid that were allegedly taken by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), according to the Sudanese Foreign Ministry.
The Ministry stated in a statement today that the trucks were their route to El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur state in the west of the nation, in order to assist in containing the food and health crises in the camps housing internally displaced people.
In addition to stepping up their attacks, the RSF started enforcing their threats to stop relief convoys from reaching the recipients in the states of Al Jazeera, North, and South Kordofan.
The Sudanese Foreign Ministry explained that stopping the arms and financial support to the Rapid Support Forces while adhering strictly to Jeddah’s decisions—particularly those pertaining to the evacuation of civilian establishments, citizens’ homes, cities, and villages that were attacked following the signing of the Declaration of Humanitarian Principles—is the quickest way to end the suffering of the Sudanese people, end the humanitarian crisis, and end the war.
The UN announced at the beginning of the month that around 25 million people in Sudan—14 million of whom are children, with three million of them under the age of five—suffer from severe malnutrition, underscoring the critical need for life-saving humanitarian assistance.
It is noteworthy that since April 15, 2023, there has been combat in several parts of Sudan between the Sudanese Arm Forces and the Rapid Support Forces, resulting in the deaths of thousands of civilians, the damage of infrastructure, and the eviction of millions of people.
