Qatar welcomes hosting Iran-US indirect talks in Doha this week

Qatar welcomes hosting indirect talks between Iran and the United States in its capital Doha this week to revive the 2015 nuclear deal.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed Qatar’s full readiness to provide an atmosphere that would help all parties make the talks a success.

The talks will be held under the auspices of the European Union coordinator.
The ministry expressed Qatar’s hope that the round of indirect talks would culminate in positive results that would contribute to reviving the nuclear agreement signed in 2015, supporting and enhancing security, stability and peace in the region and opening new horizons for broader regional cooperation and dialogue with Iran.
Iran’s top nuclear negotiator Ali Bagheri Kani and his delegation arrived in Doha, Iran’s IRNA news agency said, after US special envoy Robert Malley held talks with HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani.
The US-Iran talks, due to take place this week, will be separate from broader EU-mediated negotiations in Vienna between Iran and major powers which have been going on for more than a year.
