Qatar temporarily suspends visit visas during FIFA World Cup

From November 1, 2022, the Ministry of Interior will only permit Hayya Cardholders to enter the State of Qatar through air, land, and maritime borders, except during the World Cup.

From December 23, 2022, the visit visas will be issued once more.

This was disclosed at a press conference held today, September 21, 2022, addressing the rules governing entry and leave from Qatar during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, which is scheduled to begin on November 20, 2022.

The Ministry further stated that Hayya card holders are the only ones who are permitted entry into Qatar, and their stay is valid until January 23, 2023.

The categories exempted from the suspension of entry to Qatar, between November 1 and December 23, 2022, include:
– Qatari citizens, residents and GCC citizens holding a Qatari ID card
– Holders of personal recruitment visas and work entry permits
– Humanitarian cases through the airport (based on the approval from the official application platform)
