The third Sheikh Saoud Al Thani Project and Single Image Awards are now accepting submissions, according to a press release from Qatar Museums. An annual photography festival honoring photographers from Western Asia and the North Africa (WANA) region, Tasweer, includes an open call as part of its program.
Photographers from all over the WANA region are invited to submit their entries before November 1 for the award, which is in honor of Sheikh Saoud Al Thani (1966-2014), one of Qatar’s greatest collectors who played a significant role in shaping the extraordinary collection at the Museum of Islamic Art.
An annual financial award for photographers living in WANA, the Sheikh Saoud Project Award supports ideas for the creation or culmination of a photography project. Each of the awardees chosen by the panel will get a funding award of QR30,000 to help fund an ongoing or brand-new photographic project.
It’s an open request for one photo that best sums up the photographer’s background and story.
“We are thrilled to invite aspiring and professional photographers from around the WANA region to submit their entries for the third edition of the Sheikh Saoud Al Thani Project and Single Image Awards,” said Khalifa Al Obaidly, the organization’s founding director. The annual competition offers a chance to find extraordinary talent, and the top submissions will be displayed at an exhibition during Tasweer in March 2023, attracting attention from the local, regional, and international photographic communities.
The Sheikh Saoud Al Thani Foundation and Hamad Medical Corporation collaborate to host the yearly photography competition (HMC). as a result of Tasweer’s partnership with HMC.
People can submit entries at www.tasweer.org.qa before November 1.
