Qatar 2022 best edition in World Cup history, says Yemeni Minister

According to H E Nayef Saleh Al Bakri, the Minister of Youth and Sport for Yemen, the State of Qatar wowed the globe with its unique organization of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

According to the Minister, this Arab-Qatari edition of the World Cup is the best World Cup edition in the tournament’s 92-year history when considering the planning and organization of the event, the beauty of the facilities and infrastructure, and the ease of travel between stadiums and towns.

In exclusive statements to QNA, he affirmed that Qatar’s hosting of the World Cup is a source of pride for Qatar, the Arab and the Islamic worlds, noting that the Arab region’s hosting of a global event the size of the World Cup was a beautiful dream, yet now the dream became a reality.

Qatar was able to realise this dream and host this great event, which will have a great impact on changing the world’s view of Qatar and all Arabs in general and their capabilities, in addition to being the starting point for organising other major global events in the near future.

He also praised the multifaceted legacy that this world tournament will leave, including a sport, cultural, social and humanitarian legacies, in addition to strategic relations and partnerships with various other international organizations, given that the State of Qatar will contribute, through the legacy of this World Cup edition, to support the construction of stadiums in many developing countries.

The Minister extended his thanks and appreciation to the wise leadership of the State of Qatar represented by Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and Father Amir H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, for their efforts to make this tournament a success in this impressive manner.

The Yemeni minister described the media campaigns against Qatar’s hosting of the World Cup as desperate and miserable.

The campaign to cast doubt on Qatar’s ability to host the World Cup, which began as soon as it won the bid in 2010, continued up until the opening ceremony, according to him, failed in the face of Qatari tenacity, perfection, and creativity. He also pointed out that every nation has its own system, law, customs, and traditions, and that others must respect Qatar’s unique characteristics as the host nation.
