Over 600kg banned tobacco seized at a port in Qatar
Over 600 kg of illegal tobacco were seized by the maritime customs department at Hamad Port during an attempt to enter Qatar.
Customs said in multiple images posted to social media that the illegal goods were discovered concealed in a consignment of kitchenware. The drug was seized weighed 696.74 kg in total.
Additionally, Hamad Port Customs foiled a smuggling operation last week that involved tobacco products and a sizable number of cigarette cartons concealed among tea shipments. The tobacco that was seized weighed a total of 3,250 kilograms. On the other hand, a large amount of cigarettes that had been hidden in a shipment of tea to avoid paying taxes and customs fees was discovered. In total, there were 700,000.
