Mexico’s Tecatito to miss Qatar World Cup due to broken leg
Jess Corona, a Mexican forward known by the nickname “Tecatito,” will miss the World Cup in Qatar after breaking his left leg during practice on Thursday for his club team, Sevilla.
The 29-year-old celebrity is anticipated to be sidelined for at least four to five months after breaking his left fibula and rupturing ankle ligaments.
Tecatito reportedly suffered the injury on his own and is presently recovering following surgery, according to the Spanish club.
When speaking about the devastating injury, Sevilla’s coach Julen Lopetegui described it as sad.
Lopetegui added, “It doesn’t look nice, but it’s part of sport and it happened to Jess.
Tecatito was the most dynamic player for Mexico, therefore the news is terrible for the squad and supporters.
Tecatito has scored 10 goals in 71 appearances for Mexico’s national team. He was also a member of the Russian team from 2018 that faced off in the Round of 16 against Brazil, one of the superpowers of the globe.
In the hopes that Tecatito would heal more quickly than anticipated, the Mexican Football Federation stated that it would give him as much time as possible to recover.
On November 22, against Poland in Group C, Mexico will make its debut in Qatar. The team will also compete against Argentina and Saudi Arabia, making their path to the gold prize difficult.
On November 20, the World Cup will begin in Qatar, bringing the famed international football competition to the area for the first time ever.
