Katara opens Moldovan corner in celebration of 25 years of Qatar-Moldova ties
Doha: In the presence of Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova H E Natalia Gavrilita, Prof Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti, General Manager of the Cultural Village Foundation, Katara, inaugurated the Moldovan Corner, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Moldova and the State of Qatar.
The inauguration was attended by H E Victor Tvircun, Ambassador of Moldova to Qatar, H E Dr. Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kuwari, Minister of State and President of Qatar National Library, and a large number of their excellencies ambassadors and representatives of diplomatic missions.
The Moldovan Corner, which is located near the Italian restaurant Lovisovio, included a bronze piece entitled “Together towards the future,” in reference to the growth and prosperity of relations between the two countries.
Moreover, the exhibition “Image of the World in Stone and Metal” was opened in Building 47 Gallery 2, which included 28 art pieces by seven artists from Moldova. The pieces varied in their shapes and ideas, and most of them were made of bronze, granite, steel and aluminum. It will be open until June 28, from 10am to 10pm.
The Prime Minister of Moldova praised the efforts made in organising these events, and for his part, Dr. Al Sulaiti said: “The ties between countries are increasing and people are opening up to each other’s cultures with such events. Katara Cultural Village dedicates all efforts and capabilities to achieve rapprochement between peoples and build bridges of communication between them, noting that Katara is cooperating with various embassies accredited to the country to achieve its mission to be a crossroads of cultures and an umbrella for creativity and creators.”
Ambassador of Moldova, H E Victor Tvircun thanked the people in charge of the Katara for all their support in organising the said events, praising the depth of relations between the Republic of Moldova and the State of Qatar and wishing them further development and prosperity.
It is worth noting that Katara has previously organised with the Embassy of Moldova in Qatar many joint events, including the presentation of the Moldovan folk orchestra “Vassilivo,” the presentation of the Academy of Music in Moldova, and the “Etisalat” exhibition, which included 38 paintings by the most famous artists in Moldova. In 2020, Katara organised an art exhibition entitled “Qatar in the Past, Present and Future” by Qatari photographer Ali Issa Al Nuaimi, at the National Art Museum in the Republic of Moldova.
