The plan is to collaborate with the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy to hold four art workshops for four teams comprising players and the administrative and technical staff of various teams. The events during the World Cup are also to include a huge exhibition that reflects the country’s contribution to sport and promotes its sports heritage and symbols.
Al-Obaidly also revealed the details of the new programme of art residency in Paris and New York. The programmes in Doha, Paris and New York reflect the vision of Qatar Museums to enrich the lives of residents and visitors in Qatar, in addition to supporting the creation of an authentic cultural identity based on innovation and creativity. The Art Residency Programme in Doha provides 20 studios in Fire Station, four of which are for visiting artists and the rest for artists selected to join the programme, which lasts for nine months each year.
Al-Obaidly stated that Saeeda al-Khulaifi and Zainab al-Shaibani have been selected for the International Art Residency Programme in New York. Anfal al-Kandari participated in the residency programme in Paris from May 4 to August 4. Abeer al-Tamimi is currently holding a special exhibition of her artwork after her art residency in Paris. Qatar Museums started the art residency programme in Paris in 2017, and sends a Qatari artist for each course, of up to three months, with sponsorship and financial support, the official added.
