FIFA President promises special experience in Qatar World Cup
Gianni Infantino, the president of FIFA, assured football fans everywhere that Qatar 2022 will be special, comparing the occasion to a young child visiting Disneyland for the first time.
On Sunday, August 28, 2022, he was speaking at a news conference in Costa Rica where he also officially opened a practice field at the headquarters of the Costa Rican Football Federation. The U-20 Women’s World Cup final between Spain and Japan was taking place while he was in the Central American nation.
He continued by praising the World Cup organizers in Qatar “The planners are making every effort. I am quite optimistic about the tournament’s success because it will be a special experience for spectators.”
Two million people are expected to attend the event, according to Infantino, who also stated that it “would be a comprehensive and dazzling celebration, and unlike prior World Cups, it will be as if a youngster travels to Disney park for the first time.”
Regarding the decision to move the date of the opening match between Qatar and Ecuador to November 20, he stated that it was made out of respect for the World Cup’s past.
