FIFA names first female refereeing trio for a men’s World Cup
FIFA confirmed on Tuesday that Stephanie Frappart, Neuza Back, and Karen Diaz have been selected to officiate the Costa Rica-Germany Group E encounter on Thursday, making them the first all-female refereeing squad for a men’s World Cup match.
Frappart, who served as the fourth official for the Poland-Mexico Group C matchup last week, will serve as the primary referee as she achieves yet another first after being the first female to preside at a Champions League match in 2020 and a men’s World Cup qualification in March.
