Doha British School celebrates graduation of 2022 class
Doha British School (DBS), one of the leading British International schools in Qatar, has celebrated for the first time in three years, its first in-person graduation for the class of 2022.
The DBS community, families and staff came together at the Grand Hyatt, Doha to celebrate with 121 graduating Year 12 and Year 13 students from the school’s Sixth Form Centre.
Despite having experienced the challenges of learning at the time of the pandemic, the class of 2022 have shown resilience, commitment and dedication throughout their course of study in AS/A-Level, IB and BTEC.
In his speech, Executive Principal Paul Sherlock encouraged the graduates to choose the path less travelled, leave their mark on the world and to make a difference to the people around them. “Your legacy can be seen in many different ways by many different people, your teachers will have made a lasting impression on you. Use what they have taught you to go into the world to walk the path less travelled, create your own legacy, and take risks, just like Olympian Gabriela Anderson – never give up.”
The graduation also welcomed guest speaker Dr Javier Arnaiz of Aspetar Sports Hospital who encouraged the graduates with his inspiring message on perseverance and excellence.
The Sixth Form Centre at DBS offers four unique pathways of learning – AS/A-Level, BTEC and IB Diploma. Students taking Sixth Form experience outstanding teaching from dedicated subject specialists, as well as personalised pastoral support from form tutors and the sixth form team.
Students are also supported in their university application process.
This year’s cohort of graduates have received numerous offers from top universities across the world, including the UK, USA, Australia and Canada.
