Captain Hazard ready to take Belgium to World Cup finals

In the 2018 World Cup, Eden Hazard, the captain of Belgium, has stated that it’s all or nothing for his team.

“I must establish a high standard. I’ll make an effort to perform better than in 2018. That was already rather good, so it’ll be difficult, remarked Hazard in a FIFA+ interview.

On the fields of Qatar, Hazard, who has led Belgium since 2015, will make his third World Cup appearance.

With 14 appearances on the international stage, Belgium’s best finish in the World Cup was third at the Russia 2018 tournament.

For Hazard, Belgium’s campaign must be met with a trophy to compensate for the “golden generation” nickname fans have gifted the squad.

“The term “golden generation” is frequently used, although there is some validity to it. We’ve been together for almost ten years. Young players are now beginning to emerge for us,” Hazard stated.

Although we have a fantastic generation of players, we haven’t yet achieved success. That, in my opinion, is the one thing we still need to accomplish if we truly want to live up to the moniker of the “golden age.” We have obviously benefited from our combined expertise in prior competitions, so I hope that it will stay that way for a while.

The Belgians will open off their match against Canada on November 23 before playing Morocco and Croatia.
