Africans in Qatar under the patronage of the African Group of Ambassadors in Qatar celebrated the Africa Day on Wednesday 1st June, 2022 at the Diplomatic Club, Doha celebrated the Day with calls for solidarity while sending best wishes to their counterparts and community members in the country.
African Day is observed annually to commemorate the founding of the Organization of African Unity (OAU), which was created on 25 May 1963 the precursor of the African Union (AU).
The day provided an opportunity to celebrate the socio-economic achievements of the continent under the Theme for the year 2022 “Strengthening Resilience in Nutrition and Food Security on the African Continent”.
The event brought Africans in a colorful ceremony and exhibition of African food and culture in line with this year’s theme at the Diplomatic Club. The event was presided over by the Dean of the African Group of Ambassadors H.E. Amr El Sherbini, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt and was graced by Amb. Abdulla Hussein Jaber, Director of African Affairs Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar.
