Ministry announces working hours in Qatar during Ramadan
Ministries, government organizations, public bodies, and institutions have announced their working hours for the holy month of Ramadan. Today, Thursday, March 7, 2024, is the announcement day.HE Ibrahim bin Ali Al Mohannadi, Minister of Justice and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, released a circular outlining the working hours.
The circular said that because Ramadan is quickly coming, it was determined that civil officials’ official working hours during the holy month would be five hours a day, from nine in the morning to two in the afternoon.
It further said that workers can be allowed to arrive later, up to ten in the morning, as long as they finish the assigned five working hours and fulfill all work-related obligations.
During the holy month, a portion of the workforce—up to thirty percent—will be able to work remotely. The system will prioritize Qatari mothers and individuals with disabilities, so long as it doesn’t interfere with their ability to complete their work obligations.
The circular further said that official working hours and dates for the health and education sectors will be determined by the Ministry of Public Health and the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, respectively, within their respective jurisdictions, based on the nature of the task.
