Hayya card: A basket of benefits on and off the field
For every football fan traveling to Qatar to see the biggest sporting event, the Hayya Card has made travel simple.
Thanks to the combined efforts of the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC), the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Municipality, and the Ministry of Municipality and Environment, among others, football fans were able to enjoy the locations Qatar has to offer.
Back in March, the Hayya card has been launched which is an exclusive gateway to FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. The card or Fan ID offers a basket full of perks for fans who are visiting the country – from free entry to the FIFA Fan Festival to free public transportation.
Fans may print their physical Hayya cards at the Ali Bin Hamad Al Attiyah Arena or the Doha Exhibition & Convention Center, or they can access them digitally through the Hayya app.
All previous World Cup hosts aside from Russia reported difficult conditions for the supporters. Prior to applying for entry visas to the host countries, they had to buy match tickets first. Additionally, they had challenges when travelling inside the cities of the host countries and taking part in activities and tournament-related events.
When Russia hosted the World Cup in 2018, they introduced the Fan ID, which Qatar adopted. International spectators were granted visa-free admission and unrestricted use of public transit on game days thanks to the Fan ID. Similar to the Fan ID, the Hayya card provides fans with more extensive and comprehensive benefits.
The most significant benefit for Hayya card users is free access to public transportation, which includes buses, the Metro, and the tram, as well as other benefits that are continually being added to it. They also get access to the eight World Cup stadiums given they have a match ticket.
The card has been developed with several special options regarding the registration process, and features that allow the fans to enter tourist places, transportation and stadiums, as well as attending a number of events and activities associated with the tournament. Ticketed fans can register for the Hayya Card through the website portal: Qatar2022.qa/en, and the Hayya to Qatar 2022 app.
Also, the Hayya card enables fans to book their accommodation during the World Cup. They may make reservations on the official website of the host nation, which offers a variety of accommodations, including apartments, villas, floating hotels, and more.
Aside from its many advantages, the Hayya card stands out for its provision of multiple entry visas to Jordan, the UAE, the Sultanate of Oman, and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia without the requirement for prior authorisation. During the World Cup, the four countries will run daily flights to Doha and provide leisure programmes and events for visiting fans.
With the introduction of “Hayya with Me (1+3)” in September, Hayya card users may now pay QR 500 to invite up to three non-ticketed fans to the World Cup.
As of December 6, Qatar no longer requires Gulf residents or nationals to present a Hayya card in order to enter the country. The Ministry of Interior detailed the admission process at all entry points, pointing out that GCC nationals and residents flying into Qatar will be allowed to enter without registering on the Hayya platform.
Beginning on December 8, GCC citizens and residents traveling through the land border crossing in their private vehicles will be permitted entry. They must submit an application for a permission on the Ministry of Interior website at least 12 hours before departure; there is no fee for the permit.
The Ministry confirmed that this action is being taken as part of the State’s efforts to give GCC residents and visitors a chance to take in the atmosphere surrounding the World Cup matches and its entertainment events for the duration of the competition. As well as to make it easier for them to enter through all border crossing points and to join the hundreds of thousands of fans in stadiums, designated fan zones, and live screening events.
All Qatari museums, with the exception of the National Museum of Qatar and the Museum of Islamic Art, are open to Hayya card holders beginning in early December. In addition to the 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic & Sports Museum, Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art, M7, and Qatar Museums Gallery – Al Riwaq, they will have access to Qatar’s world-class collection of galleries and museums.
