‘Traffic plan for World Cup opening successful’
An official has stated that the Traffic Management Unit was successful in ensuring easy access for fans to Al Bayt Stadium for the opening of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 on Sunday.
Captain Salem Mubarak Al Buainain, Officer at Traffic Management Unit, FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Safety and Security Operations Committee, stated that the Traffic Management Unit made it easier for fans to enter and exit the stadiums.
Speaking to Qatar Radio yesterday, he urged fans to not hesitate in taking help and guidance from the Unit personnel wishing them a joyful experience of the World Cup.
“The first match of the World Cup at Al Bayt Stadium was a unique experience in term of dealing with a large number of fans for the opening ceremony and the match,” said Al Buainain.
He said that the Unit is carrying many tasks, most important of which is traffic management at all eight stadiums, the venues of mega sporting event.
“It is also escorting prominent personalities and teams participating in the tournament. The unit also controls traffics in other key places in addition to the stadiums,” said Al Buainain.
To a question, he said: “We, at the unit, have experiences from previous sport events which have added value to this mega sporting event.”
He said that the ultimate goal of the unit is to provide traffic management with high standards to meet the requirements of such mega sporting events.
To a question about traffic management plan at stadiums, Al Buainain said: “It is very important to make a traffic plan, provide necessary training to traffic personnel and deploy best equipment for successful traffic management.”
He said that Traffic Management Unit is working round the clock as per the need, covering all types of events.
The unit is protecting the World Cup and monitoring 55 events during the competition. The unit’s men are on task since they completed extensive training specifically for this endeavor, encompassing all necessary areas.
In order to ensure the success of the competition, he claimed that a number of security units, including the sport facility unit for securing stadiums and spectators and the technical unit for keeping an eye on roads, facilities, and related events, are working under the supervision of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Safety and Security Operations Committee.
