QATAR 2022: ‘Cameroon fans will bring colour and passion to Qatar 2022’
Cameroon’s national team was one of three teams from West Africa to earn a spot in Qatar 2022, and Cameroon fans will add color and excitement to the premier event in world football.
The Indomitable Lions are competing in the finals for the eighth time, and Cameroonian Boris Adi, who has lived in Abu Hamour for five years, is thrilled to welcome supporters of the team.
The 29-year-old, who is originally from Bamenda in Cameroon’s northwest, works as an accountant at West Bay Ice Factory.
He spoke about what Cameroon fans can expect when they arrive in Qatar for the FIFA World Cup™, which will take place from 20 November to 18 December.
How would you describe Qatar to people from Cameroon?
One noticeable thing is the safety and security. You could have a large sum of money or a valuable watch on you and no one will try to steal them. People here are focused on their jobs. It is very diverse. There are a lot of expats and that’s why the country is so busy.
What are the best places to visit in Qatar?
I really like the National Museum of Qatar – it is completely unique. Souq Waqif is rich with Qatari culture. You can see art being created and falcons. I also love the sand dunes – they are a must-see in Qatar. The desert is an amazing experience.
What advice would you give Cameroon fans about visiting Qatar?
It’s important to do some research and understand what Qatar is like. People back home ask me many questions about the country. I tell them the best way to answer them all is by visiting. Qatar is very welcoming and people always leave here with a positive impression of the country.
What can we expect from Cameroon fans during the tournament?
Cameroonians are very friendly and entertaining. They like dancing, they like music, anything that has to do with the fan experience. You should expect music, traditional dances and African outfits being worn, which are amazing. We love colourful outfits.
Cameroon will play their group matches at Al Janoub Stadium and Lusail Stadium. Are you looking forward to experiencing the atmosphere at these venues?
Of course! The Cameroon fans will bring passion and colour to the stands. It will be a fun experience for everyone attending. The timing of the tournament is also great – the weather conditions will be perfect.
This will be Cameroon’s eighth appearance at a World Cup. How do you think the Indomitable Lions will fare at Qatar 2022?
Although Cameroon is a very unpredictable squad, we are hoping for a good result this time. We have a lot of faith in our team, and we are playing well. We want them to uphold our reputation. Though we are up against some formidable competition in our group, including Brazil, I am confident that we can win this World Cup. To the greatest extent possible, we must work to encourage and uplift our team. The team has enough strength, in my opinion, to advance past the quarterfinals.
