Doha Metro to extend services up to 3am during FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022

Metro Services in the country will operate from 6am to 3am during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 stated the officials in a transport briefing today.

37 metro stations, 7 tram stations and an entire fleet of Metro trains and trams will be operational from 6am to 3am through out the week except on Fridays when the service will start at 9am.

Representatives from Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Transport, Qatar Rail, Mowasalat and Public Works Department organised a press conference where the officials announced the details of the transportation services during the tournament.

Abdullah Al-Sulaiti, Director of Operations Affairs at Qatar Rail said that we have taken into account the number of visitors and as such the Metro service will be increased to reach the maximum capacity.

It added that the entire fleet of 110 Metro trains, those in service and on stand by, and the 18 trams will be operated during the World Cup.

Metrolink feeder services will continue to operate on 43 lines, serving the metro stations; meanwhile the Metroexpress on-demand service will only be available from 6 am until noon.

The Park and ride facility will be available at 13 metro stations and will provide a total of 18,200 parking spaces.

Officials added that Hayya Card holders can use the metro and tram for free from November 10 to December 23, while the non-Hayya card holders can purchase weekly travel cards at all stations. About 30 to 50 percent of the stadium traffic during the World Cup will be using the Metro Services, the official added.
