Qatar offers many options to house a million fans during FIFA World Cup: CNN report

CNN released a report on the ongoing fan hosting preparations in Qatar as the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 draws near. According to CNN, over a million fans are expected to visit Doha during the World Cup.

Due to the difficulty of finding housing for such significant events, Qatar will provide a variety of options, including two opulent cruise ships that will be docked at Doha’s port for the duration of the World Cup. They each feature nine swimming pools, 3,898 cabins, and ten great dining establishments. A spa, tennis courts, and the largest dry slide at sea in the world are all available.

The shuttle ride to the Doha city center from the ships takes ten minutes. Although it’s a bargain compared to some of the other alternatives accessible to ticket holders, given that it includes a buffet breakfast, they should cost between $605 to $2,779 each night.

During the 28-day competition, Qatar intends to have 100,000–130,000 rooms accessible at any given time.

One to six bedroom apartments and villas are already listed for ticket holders, with rates for ticket holders ranging from $84 to $875 per night. The majority are close to public transportation, and the villas come with full kitchens, washers, swimming pools, and gyms.

In addition to offering official lodging, it will also give locals a booking tool akin to Airbnb so they can let out their houses to visiting fans. A resident or the owner of a building may also list their units on such portals by requesting a license from Qatar Tourism.

Fan villages, cabin-style lodgings, are scattered around the outskirts of Doha and cost $207 per night. The report also mentions Bedouin-style desert camping, which is not currently bookable but will be offered at the event. Omar Al-Jaber, head of lodging at Qatar’s Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC), is quoted as saying that 1000 tents in this manner will be set up. Al-Jaber told Reuters that about 200 of those will be deemed “luxury,” have a “premium” price tag, and offer fans a “genuine” experience.

“Our focus has always been delivering fair and reasonable pricing for visiting fans,” a different SC representative told CNN. We collaborate closely with important partners to provide reasonable pricing for all forms of lodging, he continued.
