Aspetar ready for FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022
The FIFA World Cup in Qatar starts in November, and Aspetar, the first specialized Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Hospital in the Gulf, stated it is prepared to host the world’s top sportsmen.
The competition will feature 32 teams split up into eight groups.
In a video posted to its social media pages, Aspetar stated that its orthopaedic surgeons, cardiologists, sports medicine doctors, sports dentists, sports psychologists, physiotherapists, massage therapists, nurses, scientific researchers, radiologists, physical coaches, pharmacists, sports nutritionists, sports podiatrists, and biomedical engineers were all waiting and ready to welcome elite athletes from all over the world.
In 2009, Aspetar was accredited as a “FIFA Medical Centre of Excellence” by F-MARC and “IOC Research Centre for Prevention of Injury and Protection of Athlete Health” in 2014. A year after, it was recognised as the “IHF Reference Centre for Athlete and Referee Health.”
As a FIFA Medical Centre of Excellence, Aspetar is the region’s first Sports Medicine Centre to receive the accreditation, and joins a prestigious list of 49 medical centres and clinics worldwide.
It also provides medical services to over 100 national and international sporting events in the country annually. And has screened medically over 18,000 athletes from all around the world.
Aspetar provides a full service offering from injury prevention to injury management and performance improvement. Its aims to provide sportspeople with the clinical support, knowledge and facilities to maximise their training and competitive potential. This is achieved through tailored education programmes and support in areas of health, including fitness assessment, nutrition, psychology, physiology and physical training.
The Movement Assessment Lab, Sports Surgery Training Center, Hydrotherapy Pools, Altitude Dormitory, Climate Chamber, Warm up Track, Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, Fitness Area, Athletes Screening Unit, Digital Orthotic Laboratory, Virtual Reality, Operating Theatres and Post-Surgery Ward, Sports Dentistry Area, Medical Imaging, Laboratory, and Pharmacy are just a few of the 16 facilities available at the Sports Medicine Hospital.
