School attendance rate rises to 90%

Over the first two days of the new school year, the attendance percentage of pupils at government schools grew substantially, rising from over 75% on the first day to as high as 90% on the second.
According to several school managers quoted in the local Arabic newspaper Arrayah, the government schools’ administrative and academic staff have not had a single case of absenteeism reported, and the distribution of texts to students has gone without a hitch. Additionally, the full school day schedule has been introduced as of Tuesday.
Since this year’s first school term is short and there are ongoing assessments for the children during this time, they highlighted that contact had been kept with the parents of the absent students by sending them SMS and WhatsApp messages to emphasize the significance of regular school attendance.

Meanwhile, the educational process has been going well and normal since the first school day and parents are kept informed about the progress of their children. Further, schools are very keen to strictly maintain the safety and precautionary measures for the protection and well-being of all at the school environment,
Nasser Abdulla al-Muraikhi, manager of a secondary school, stressed the high rate of student attendance at the second school day and starting from Tuesday a full school day have been implemented with seven periods a day except for Wednesday and Thursday, as students can go home one hour earlier. Besides, messages are send to parents on daily basis to urge parents to send their children to schools regularly to benefit from the classroom activities and extracurricular activities as well.
The manager of the preparatory school, Saeed Micehi al-Ahbabi, made note that during the first two days of classes, students were handed their textbooks and familiarized with the study schedule and school policies. The instructional process was in full swing on Tuesday.
The primary school manager, Salem Ali Hashil, notes that this new academic year is off to a great start with up to 90% of pupils attending class in the first few days after break. He claimed that in addition to other classroom activities and assessments, parents had been informed that attendance contributed to a portion of children’ final grades.
