QNA participates in ‘Little Employee’ initiative
By assigning a working day for pupils in grades 9 through 15 inside the organization where a parent or relative works, Qatar News Agency (QNA) took part in the “Little Employee” initiative run by Qatar Career Development Center (QCDC), a member of the Qatar Foundation.
Numerous employees’ children were welcomed at QNA to assist with administrative, editorial, or technical tasks as well as learn more about the nature of their jobs and professional lives in general.
QNA’s participation in the initiative comes from its belief in supporting creative and innovative ideas, as well as cooperating with various state institutions in achieving human development goals and investing in future generations in order to achieve Qatar National Vision 2030.
The Little Employee initiative aims to enhance the role of the family as a key factor in determining an individual’s professional identity. Through following up on the work of their parents or relatives in the professional environment, students learn the value of work and the basic concepts of professional life, which helps them in drawing a preliminary vision of their future career milestones, and motivates them to work on planning their career path early and making educational decisions.
Through the initiative, QCDC hopes to provide students the chance to experience what it’s like to have a real job by having them assist a parent or other family member in doing their job at the organization they work for.
In addition to enhancing the role of parents in guiding their children professionally, QNA’s participation in the initiative helped identify some of the professional options offered in the labor market and the skills necessary to follow a specific career path. It also gave the children of a number of employees the chance to observe the real work environment and learn some skills.
