The Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) announced Wednesday that it had completed several volumes for the bilingual cultural encyclopedia project in Qatar. The finished volumes included the first volume of the dictionary of places as well as seven volumes of the common vocabulary dictionary.
The multilingual encyclopaedia will include a number of dictionaries of common words, localities, local terms, and proverbs.
Prof. Khalid bin Ibrahim al-Sulaiti, general manager of the Cultural Village Foundation (Katara), emphasized the importance of the encyclopedia in educating people about Qatar and its tourist, cultural, and heritage attractions.
Khalid Abdulrahim al-Sayed, the project manager, praised the first volume of the dictionary of places as a crucial foundation for connecting locations with their historic Arab histories.
As part of their collaborative research with Katara, Qatar University’s linguistics and literature experts are part of the project team. (QNA)
