Workers Support and Insurance Fund Executive Director affirms workers’ importance, value in building societies

In an effort to raise awareness of the worth and significance of workers as well as their crucial role in constructing societies, the Workers Support and Insurance Fund (WSIF) will observe International Workers Day.

Kholoud Saif Al Kubaisi, the executive director of the Workers Support and Insurance Fund, praised the Fund as a trailblazing effort as part of Qatar’s labor market reforms, with the goal of guaranteeing the support and protection of workers in Qatar, both materially and morally.

Since its founding, the Fund—which was created under Law No. (17) of 2018—has helped workers in need by acting as a financial safety net, effectively assisting in the improvement of their living conditions, and making significant progress in advancing workers’ rights and ensuring a just and secure workplace, according to Al Kubaisi.

In partnership with the 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum and the International Labor Organization (ILO), the Fund will celebrate May Day with a cultural and entertainment event today. To cheer up workers, the event will offer a variety of entertainment options. Approximately 500 employees from different companies will visit the museum for a thorough introduction as part of the festivities. Apart from providing monetary assistance, the Fund arranges various programs and events to offer ethical support to laborers. These encompass instructional courses, consciousness raising sessions, and social gatherings that foster robust relationships amongst laborers and augment their perception of inclusion and value in Qatari culture.

In addition to expressing her desire for more collaboration and constructive initiatives that uplift the status of workers and contribute to the advancement of community and social responsibility values, Al Kubaisi thanked the 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum for its participation in this event. She also honored workers and recognized their significant contribution to society.
