Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra to hold open-air concerts during World Cup
Come the biggest athletic event, the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra (QPO) will play at open-air performances throughout Doha, including the FIFA Fan Zones, Corniche, Oxygen Park, and Katara Amphitheater.
Kurt Meister, the executive director of QPO, confirmed this on Saturday. There will be eight to ten outdoor concerts in all. We’ll welcome the football guests in smaller groups in the fan zones with the brass section or the string section.
Popular football songs from throughout the world, Gulf folk music, Arab-themed music, and orchestrated works by the Philharmonic will all be included in the concerts’ topics. “We have arranged for well-known songs as well as the most popular football songs from other nations.”
A similar event, dubbed “Gulf folk meets Philharmonic,” which took place in August, according to Nasser Sahim, QPO Deputy Executive Director, will be presented during the major football tournament.
He emphasized that locals and guests attending the World Cup will be able to appreciate and experience “traditional folk music in orchestral style” at the future concerts. For the World Cup, more than a million football fans are anticipated to travel there.
The Philharmonic at the Library: Schubert Octet is one of the Philharmonic’s forthcoming events in September. The opening performance of the Philharmonic at the Library Series 2022–2023 is this one. Schubert’s Octet in F Major will be performed by the QPO as a group by its eight members. This well-known masterpiece has six movements and is characterized by warmth of emotion and lyrical beauty from the first note to the last. It will take place on September 14th, Wednesday.
Peter and the Wolf will then be presented on September 16 at Mesaimeer’s Hamilton International School Theatre. The orchestra provides musical illustrations for the audience as the narrator tells the tale of Peter and the Wolf.
The Mozart Piano Concerto No. 20 will also be performed at Hamilton International School Theatre on September 23. One of Mozart’s few compositions in a minor key is the Piano Concerto in D Minor, which is also his stormiest concerto. It was the first of six magnificent works for piano and orchestra that were written between 1785 and 1786. Through the QPO website, tickets can be purchased.
